Emotion pompoms

Soft balls of wool, one for each feeling.

A pompom is nice to hold. Giving each one a feeling means the child can hand you an emotion instead of having to explain it.

Step by step

  1. Wind the wool

Around the fork, forty times or so. Keep going.

  2. Tie the middle

A short piece of wool through the fork, pulled tight.

  3. Cut the loops

A grown-up cuts both sides. Then fluff it up.

  4. Give it a face

Two eyes. That is enough for it to be someone.

Uga’s tip

On a hard day, holding the right pompom can be easier than finding the word.
